Post 7: Computer games

When I was a child i played a lot of computer games in different website, it was very fun because sometimes I played with another friends. But now, i don’t use the computer for playing because I have other things to do, like homework from the university or read text in pdf, and when I have free time, I like hang with friends, or just go out.

For me, computer games are just a waste of time! Because it is not productive at all, you are just sitting in a chair looking a screen but nothing else, you maybe can read something or just feed your brain! And it is scientific tested that live a sedentary live can give you a lots of problems, so if you play computer games too many hours, you probably will have a disease.

Normally, I don’t say anything when I see boys and girl playing computer games, but when the games have a lot of violence; I tried to do something because it’s unacceptable that let kids playing that kind of games, just promote violence!!!

However, I think, there are some computer games that can help for difficulties of language or learning, like “educative games”, but the most of time, kids just like to play "bad" games, with nothig educative, just for fun.

When I make an investigation for my career, is very difficult to have a good bibliography because in google you don’t have the security that the article or book it going a reliable source. One day I discovered de page Scielo and my life changed.  This page is a data base where you can find a lot of reliable articles writing by sociologist and in the website, you have a lot of topics that you can choose, but all related to social science.

In Scielo, you can different ways to search; you can found the article in a magazine, in a report or, what I like most, in the index of authors and topics. In the last one, you can search like: immigration, education and/or discrimination and you will see a lot of good articles to use.

I visit the page frequently because I have ever have work to do!! And I love the page because you can found a looooot of work from another sociologist or anthropologist so much interesting and you can learn a lot about it!!!
