Post 7: Computer games

When I was a child i played a lot of computer games in different website, it was very fun because sometimes I played with another friends. But now, i don’t use the computer for playing because I have other things to do, like homework from the university or read text in pdf, and when I have free time, I like hang with friends, or just go out.

For me, computer games are just a waste of time! Because it is not productive at all, you are just sitting in a chair looking a screen but nothing else, you maybe can read something or just feed your brain! And it is scientific tested that live a sedentary live can give you a lots of problems, so if you play computer games too many hours, you probably will have a disease.

Normally, I don’t say anything when I see boys and girl playing computer games, but when the games have a lot of violence; I tried to do something because it’s unacceptable that let kids playing that kind of games, just promote violence!!!

However, I think, there are some computer games that can help for difficulties of language or learning, like “educative games”, but the most of time, kids just like to play "bad" games, with nothig educative, just for fun. 

Post 6: A web site i like

Scielo, the best web site

When I make an investigation for my career, is very difficult to have a good bibliography because in google you don’t have the security that the article or book it going a reliable source. One day I discovered de page Scielo and my life changed.  This page is a data base where you can find a lot of reliable articles writing by sociologist and in the website, you have a lot of topics that you can choose, but all related to social science.

In Scielo, you can different ways to search; you can found the article in a magazine, in a report or, what I like most, in the index of authors and topics. In the last one, you can search like: immigration, education and/or discrimination and you will see a lot of good articles to use.

I visit the page frequently because I have ever have work to do!! And I love the page because you can found a looooot of work from another sociologist or anthropologist so much interesting and you can learn a lot about it!!!

Post 4: Wild animals and pets

I consider myself as an animal lover, because i think the animals are the best!! They love you without prejudices, they just love you the way you are, but I think they give you the love you gave them, so is obviously that if you hit them or don’t food them, they are gone to be agressive and have a bad behavior. Saddly, I don’t have any pets to care because my family is alergic to them and they hat the smell of the poop, I feel bad about it because I really love animals, and think about there is so many animals in the streets without someone to care about them breaks my heart.

On the other hand, I hate the zoo and the people who buy and wear fur coats. First, i think the zoo make animal abuse, because they arent in they natural place to live, and make them “things” because the people go to se them like they see clothes or products in the supermarket. Second, people who wear fur coats dont have conscience (or thy don’t want to assume) about the animal abuse because back of that pretty coat there is ony death

Post 3: My favourite piece of technology

I’m in love with my digital camera. I think this device change the concept about take a picture because, before, take a photo was a really long process and the camera was so difficult to used. But now, with one bottom, you can keep your memories in a very good quality and it’s so easy to use when you put he automatic programation!

My camera it was a chrismas gift from my parents, when I recibe the gift I almost cry!! So I use a lot because i think this device can transport you in the place and time where you been at the moment you take the pic. Without this device i would die!! It’s so important for me remember the places where i been and the peolple i met.

But, I think I can’t benefit completly about the functions of the camera because I dont know all the thing that the camera can do, but, the most of the time, I ask for my friends help. They have cameras too!

Post 2: Why did you choose this career / study programme?

When I was a child I dreamed of being a pop star but it was a really surrealism thinking because I dont have any talent for the music! haha. But then, when i was like twelve years old, I want to be a doctor. For three years I was convinced to study that profession, but then i discover social sciences (for better or worst) and I fell in love immediately. And in adolescence, I radically change my mind: I wanto to study laws. Finally, in 4th grade i decide to study sociology. At the moment of applying to university, in the first option was sociology, then laws and in last, antropology.

So, here I am, studying sociology at the Universidad de Chile. I choose this career because I want to make changes in the society and make a better world for everyone, without inequality, poverty and discrimination.

My experience in this university has been positive so far because I realized how much I like my career, my asignatures, and my new friends. I made so many good friends because with them I feel comfortable because we all have the same opinions about controversial things, like abortion, gay marriage, the rol of the woman in the society, etc.

Post 1. My autobiography

My life

Hello, my name is Isidora Didier, i'm 18 years old and I study Sociology at Universidad de Chile. You are probably asking yourself how i get here. Well... this is my story.

I was born in Santiago, Chile and the most part of my life i grew up in Quilicura. In my child, i go to the school San José. But then, in 4th grade (primary) i changed to the Liceo María Luisa Bombal, were i met the most of my good friends. First, the change was a little bit difficult, because the level of difficulty it was a lot compared to my ex-school, especially in English... I was the worst student!!

About my family, I don´t have brothers and sister, but i have half-sister from my dad. I only live with my dad and my mom because my half-sister are bigger than me (one of them is going to have 35!!) and they are, in some aspects, independent.

Finally, I don’t have a lot of hobbies, but I like to read everything write and do handicrafts, like bracelets and necklaces to sell in pages of internet.
